Show Preview: Painter Lee Ann Conlan This Friday

If you are familiar with the work of only one artist in DSM, make it Lee Ann Conlan. She’s a consistently provocative painter who focuses primarily on figural work but throws in skeletons, architecture and dinosaurs for good measure. She impresses me most because of the thorough refinement: I have never seen a work of hers that needed more work or further refinement to reach resolution. She is the rare painter with focused and directed goals for each piece–or at least she appears to be!

You can get a chance to check out her work this Friday, the 21st, at her live/work loft in the East Village: 333 East Grand Ave. #104. Stop by between 5 and 9.

I haven’t heard many details on this show, but Lee Ann’s opening earlier this year was, literally, the talk of the art scene for weeks. She set up shop with an easel and a live nude model. Plus, I hear tell there will be milk and cookies.

Get a preview at leeannconlan.com and join Dani and I there this Friday night.
