Ignite Des Moines

If you had five minutes to talk to Des Moines, what would you say?

Its the question that the first-of-its-kind event, Ignite Des Moines, is posing this thursday night. Hosted by Impromptu Studio, speakers from around the metro area are talking about topics from website design, to legal issues, to homelessness and more. Personally interested to hear Nathan Wright’s “20 Things Des Moines Needs NOW!” Before the talks, there is an egg catapult contest, where contestants will try to have their eggs survive a catapult ride to a wall. And the inaugural Iowa Web Awards will also be announcing the 2008 winners (of which RockIowa is in the running). All of this is coming together because there is a growing community of independent web developers, small businesses, artists, and social media lovers in this town.  This would be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of cool people, entrepreneurs, innovators, and up and comers who really love what they do. Plus did I mention free beer (heard a rumor of Olde Main) and food?

Who: Ignite Des Moines

What: Egg Catapults, Presentations, Free Beer, Awards

When: Starts at 6pm, Presentations start at 8pm

How: Free, what else are you doing on thursday night?
