Concert Preview: Palmerston at 4th Street Theatre

Alternative rock band Palmerston are playing Saturday, December 6th at 4th Street Theatre (inside/next to Java Joe’s) at a foodraiser show for the Food Bank of Iowa. 2 bucks AND 2 cans of food. More food is welcome. Been seeing a lot of news stories recently about how fast charitable giving has dropped off with the economic shitstorm and how hard the foodbanks are hurting.  Have one less drink at the bars this week and pick up some canned food to help out a hungry family, won’t you?

Palmerston played Lazerfest (photos) on July 5th (you know, that OTHER show happening during 80/35). They exist in a weird place of not being from here, but being a bigger deal here than they are in some areas because of radio support.  Dropping a single with the same name as another single that took off better probably isn’t helping them out, either (Addicted).

Anyway, Palmerston has a very mature if traditional al-rock sound and they were certainly not out of place at Lazerfest. If you like your rock thick and loud with soaring choruses you’ll probably enjoy this show. 30 Seconds from Mars but less emo-y? I don’t know, I’m the video guy not a music critic. Also it will be hella loud inside 4th Street.
