  2. Great video, Andrew (also Nathan)! As Scott and I were discussing just the other night, the 21st thing greater Des Moines needs right now is centralized government. All these pseudo-burbs are ridiculous and detrimental to our growth.

  3. Metropolitan oriented governance would help a lot. Hearing “Shawn Johnson from West Des Moines, Iowa” all through the Olympics didn’t really foster a community spirit in me. Great, West Des Moines, you can have her. We’ll just take the state capitol…and the zoo…and the botanical center…and the entire East Village…and the Court Avenue District…and the baseball stadium…and Wells Fargo Arena…

    Anyhoo, I still think a lot about that speech by Denver’s mayor that the Bravo or whomever put on while trying to get project destiny passed. He had some really great thoughts on the subject.

  4. Also, hmmm, collaborative art spaces, what a great idea. Somebody who runs a really cool blog should start one sometime soon in the East Village…
