Midwest Dilemma at the Mews

After visiting family in Omaha, I was reminiscing about my teen years in the “Big O” with a high school friend. We were remembering going to shows and seeing 311, Clever, Jank1000, Gnome Slaughterhouse, Venaculus, early Cursive, and many more. Some of which have come and gone. My scene memory has been through the wash and I can’t remember when this band started, or that band put out a record, or these guys played their final show, whatever. But I remember the hype of a few bands I never saw. One of those bands was the solo turned folk collective Midwest Dilemma, fronted by a very bearded Justin Lamoureux. This (at times) 20+ group could put on a show with an overstocked rock orchestra and small choir and other times, it was just guitar, oboe, and cello. Justin’s earthy vocals combined with chamber pop, waltz, and angst-tinged folk make for a moving, somber show.

With all that said, Midwest Dilemma is on tour right now and they are headed to the Mews on the 2nd. They are perfectly arranged with Adam Haug (Oh Possum), Deep Sleep Waltzing, and Wet Chemistry. Help me relive my glory years in Omaha with a great secret of a band, Midwest Dilemma.
