(New Feature) Buy Local: Horseshoe Spatulas - Who’s Next on the Doomsday Parade?
We’re running a new feature on Rock Iowa called “Buy Local”. It’s going to feature art, music and even event tickets and other cool local stuff we come across. Consider it part mini-review, part endorsement, and part promotion.
We’ll try and include links to different options to purchase whatever we’re featuring. Also, wherever possible, we’ll make use of affilliate links. If you don’t know what that means, the short version is basically it’s a way for you to support Rock Iowa AND the artist by purchasing what we link to without taking anything from the artist. Places like iTunes and CDBaby want blogs like ours to help sell their products, so they offer bonuses for sending people their way. We’ll stress it with each feature, but whenever possible PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy music and art directly from their creators. That’s the way for these people to make the most money from what they’re doing without any middle-man. However, making iTunes and Amazon and CDbaby and Etsy and other online sales still puts money in their pockets and can look great to record labels and other parties who want “numbers”. Got it? Then let’s get on with it.
The Horseshoe Spatulas - Who’s Next on the Doomsday Parade?
A great CD from a great local band. The Horseshoe Spatulas are one of my favorite local bands (right up there with Aeon Grey and all of his various projects). They’ve got the total package: great music, fun live show, and really nice stand-up guys. They were great to work with at GDP during my DMMC stint and they actually performed on Rock Iowa back when it was a TV show at Drake. Jimmy, roll that clip:
