Get Educated - Metro Arts Alliance Workshop on the P’s

Packaging, presenting, and promoting yourself is the topic of an upcoming Metro Arts Alliance workshop. Yours truly will be presenting. I will be in good company with Deb Copeland, casting director and owner of Copeland Creative Talent and Laura Burkhalter, assistant curator at the Des Moines Art Center.

This event will be casual, inclusive, and, hopefully, informative. I don’t know if I constitute the typical professional that presents at these kinds of things but I’ve worked college booking, college radio, festival booking, private booking, and professional radio. I may not work for MTV or Sony BMG but I am exactly the kind of person that receives press kits and promotional materials from bands and artists on a regular basis as they are establishing themselves.

This event is focused particularly on that first impression or “cold contact” that you might make with someone about your art or music.  If you’ve had a lot of e-mails or press kits go unanswered this event might be for you.

Hosted By: Metro Arts Alliance
When: Tuesday Oct 14, 2008 at 5:30 PM
Where: inPlay, 615 3rd Street Des Moines, IA 50309

RSVP’s are strongly encouraged. You can do so through the event on the Metro Arts MySpace or by e-mailing info@metroarts.org.

I will be accepting Dance Dance Revolution challenges in the inPlay game area after the presentation. You will not win.
