Guaranteed Good Times: July 9th – 15th
So, with all the excitement of 80/35 last week, as well as my own personal obligations, Guaranteed Good Times slipped right past me. But, have no fear, I’m back! Hopefully everyone took advantage of the free stages and non-80/35 shows last week: Summer is the time for free music! Just about any night of the week you can find free music being played outdoors at some venue (or not free, but if you look hard enough you can find the cheap!). Know of any good free outdoor shows this week? Mention them in the comments so all can see! Now, on to the Good Times . . .
Grant Hart (of Hüsker Dü)(with Post Honeymoon and The Second Punic War)
Vaudeville Mews – Sunday, July 12th, 9:30 pm – Showtime: 10:00 pm – 21+ – $8 (rock/powerpop/punk)
Member and co-songwriter for the influential band Hüsker Dü, Grant Hart will be at the Mews this Sunday. Having been involved in the music industry since the age of thirteen, Hart’s experience will shine on the stage and is sure to captivate any music aficionado. Recently, Hart worked with Godspeed You! Black Emperor (one of my personal favorites) to record a new track, “Schoolbuses are for children.” Supporting act Post Honeymoon will prove to be equally delightful: the Chicago band’s “stripped down” and slow treatment of pop music will have you swaying. The Second Punic War will be providing additional fun.
