Guaranteed Good Times: June 18 – 24
Mustard Plug (with The Horseshoe Spatulas, Slaughterhouse 6, and
Buster and The Malignant Punks)
Vaudeville Mews – Thursday, June 18, 5:00 pm – Showtime: 5:30 pm – All Ages – $10 (ska/punk/rock)
Admit it: you were into ska at one point in your life. (Or maybe that’s just the kids from Indiana . . . ). Mustard Plug has been one of the kings of ska for the past sixteen years-that’s forever in band years! Dust off your checkered keds and re-perfect your skanking moves, because you will need them! Slaughterhouse 6 will bring even more ska magic like only kids from Des Moines can bring. And while there, enjoy the more punk leanings of Des Moines’ The Horseshoe Spatulas!
Insectoid and Cirrus Minor (with Jason Sturges)
House of Bricks – Saturday, June 20, 5pm AND 9pm – 5pm All Ages; 9pm 21+ – unknown cost (rock/electronic/psychedelic)
Need more than music to keep you entertained? Then this is the show for you-or rather, shows as there will be an early and a late show. One word particularly sticks out to me when reading about what will be occurring at this show: LASERS. I love lasers. There will also be a full multimedia performance, including dancers, projection screens, live screen painting, and perhaps even a large panorama. Impressed? Because I am. Come on down to the House of Bricks, have a few drinks, and prepare yourself what can best be described as a rockin’ psychedelic experience!
