1st Indie Potluck

Submitted by Andrew Roger on May 14, 2009 – 12:55 pm5 Comments

potluckIt’s grillin’ weather and Rock Iowa is having a picnic!

You’re invited to Indie Potluck. There will be grilling out, pot luck food, Frisbee, football and games with acoustic jams from Chicago’s Raise High the Roof Beam.

Come hang out with the Rock Iowa crew, musicians and music fans in a casual and intimate atmosphere. The grills are firing up at 5pm and we’ll be enjoying tunes and having fun until at least 7pm. This is a free event with some hot dogs and brats available. Participants are encouraged to bring your own meat for grilling and a side to share with the picnic. Bring a chair or blanket and your favorite outdoor activities!

The first ever Indie Potluck is going down at the west end of the lake at Gray’s Lake Park (map) on Thursday, May 21st. Enter the park from the North Entrance on Fleur and wrap around the lake to find us. There’s plenty of parking and grills awaiting.

rhtrbRaise High the Roof Beam is a Chicago musical collective that makes sly and happy indie rock. Layered instrumentation from ukuleles to synths to gang vocals shape their sound. RHtRB is on tour with their debut EP “The Buildup” and will be playing later in evening at Vaudeville Mews.

Meet the band and catch some free acoustic tunes at Gray’s Lake, then support local music at the paid show at the Mews!

For fun, register at Upcoming.

Rain out location: Market Street Media Foundry, 118 SE 4th Street.
