The Forecast, of Peoria, Illinois, will be gracing Des Moines with their presence this Friday at the Mews.  They can transition easily from a rock heavy sound to a more poppy sound-so flawless you don’t even notice.  Their music speaks easily to the kid from the Midwest, yet could also appeal to the big city kid.  Add in dual male/female vocals, and you’ve got yourself a good time.  Montana’s 1090 Club brings a slightly darker sound, reminiscent of a happier Murder By Death.  Local bands The Naked Station and Craig! round out the night, bringing youth to the table.

Wow.  There are musicians, and then there are musicians like Charlie Hunter:  the very essence of rare talent.  The innovative Hunter has released seventeen albums and is considered to be one of the leaders of the jazz community.  He plays a custom made, eight-string guitar which enables him to play lead and bass guitar simultaneously (although he has removed one of the strings and changed the tuning up in recent years).  The combination of his distinctive playing style and custom instrument results in a sound similar to that of a Hammond organ.
