Show Alert – Devotchka + She Swings, She Sways
Gypsy-Slavic- Mariachi-Punk-Folk sensation DeVotchKa will be making a stop in Des Moines at People’s Court downtown TOMORROW March 18th.
Based in Denver, DeVotchKa has gained national renown for their musicianship and sound and garnered a underground following from their numerous national tours and multiple self-released albums. Their music has been featured in movies such as Everything Is Illuminated and they wrote and composed the score for Little Miss Sunshine, which won the Grammy for Best Compilation Album in 2006.
Opening for DeVotchka is Ottumwa natives She Swings, She Sways, coming back through Des Moines on their way to perform a showcase at South by Southwest. She Swings was the the subject of Rock Iowa’s recent mini- doc “A Midwestern Sound,” and more video of them can be found on rockiowa.tv.

This should be a great show. Saw them at Lolla last show and had me dancing which is a rarity. Yes its polka and klesmer but they rock it hard. Plus She Swings is fronting on their epic tour. Hopefully I’ll catch them down here at SXSW.
