Submitted by NezV on February 17, 2009 – 8:17 amNo Comment

Need caffeine boost? Check out Zanzibar’s Coffee Adventure

Step through the door to experience the unique woodwork, the exciting menu, the dramatic artwork, the friendly people, and great conversation.

Grab a delicious coffee or their signature sandwich, the “eggspress”. Their menu offers many other must haves such as: teas, espresso, cookies, bars, scones, and other breakfast goodies. They also offer over 30 varieties of freshly roasted coffee beans from all over the world.

Talented local artists provide the ever-changing eye candy. The pieces always make for good conversation, and if you become attached, many times the work is for sale.

Zanzibar’s is open to everyone. There is always a wide mix of people, cultures, and conversation. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The more you come in, the more you will get to know everyone.

This month’s featured artist is photographer, Dennis Atherton. Atherton loves standing on the fringes of life looking through the viewfinder of his camera. “My philosophy is, whatever it is, it has some kind of meaning,” he says. “I like to reveal something spontaneous, something unexpected in my photographs.

So next time your strolling down Ingersoll Avenue, create your own adventure by having a drink, maybe a snack, and check out some awesome artwork.

Buy Local is a weekly feature to highlight locally businesses, bands, and handmade items you buy right here in Iowa!
