Colourmusic at the Mews

Colourmusic
If you were at 80/35, then it would have been hard to miss the ironically dressed Colourmusic. Arrayed in pure white attire with the occassional embellishment, Colourmusic took the stage with cultish zeal but it wasn’t their dress that drew one of the largest crowds. Its their energetic pysch-folk rock that had people tweaking. (Lips fan had something to do before the big show.) On the lines of The Lips, The Polyphonic Spree, The Who, and maybe even Yeasayers, Colourmusic orchestrases brilliant folk songs. In concert, they are known giving the creative control to fans. Sometimes fans paint the band as they play, or cut their hair or run the light show. This is a cult I could get into.
And speaking of concerts, Colourmusic is coming back to the Vaudeville Mews this Thursday the 15th, rocking it with local acid-house funk outfit Cleo’s Apartment at 9:30pm. It’s all part of DS Social Club’s Subjective Circus. Expect some RockIowa crew to be there. Come say hi and bring your paintbrush.
Who: Colourmusic, Cleo’s Apartment, and the Subjective Circus
What: Good mix of folk and funk
When: 9:30pm
Where: Vaudeville Mews
Popularity: 1% [?]

I didn’t even see them play at 80/35, but they have my favorite photos from the weekend. Thursday should be a fun night.
Seems like the Circus might actually have some burlesque dancers at it, plus some places are listing it as free and others as $5, either way its cheap!
Yes to burlesque! Rosalie Kelly of St. Vitus and the Taxi Dancers (burlesque) will be performing before Cleo’s Apartment! Come early so you don’t miss out!
Hey what did everyone think of the show?
I didn’t get to hit the show, but the guys of Colourmusic are awesomely funny.
