Seeing an old Schwinn whiz by beckons an carefree sensation of youthful freedom, baseball cards, ringing bells, and self-empowerment. Whenever I see an old bike like that, I want grab it, buff it, grease it, and ride it. But most are either too busted up to fix or way too expensive. I think it was this same frustration and love for biking that started the DSM Bike Collective and has fueled their Classic Bike Sale.

For most, it’s still too chilly to brave a bike ride, but enthusiasts and collectors might still pedal over to the DSM Bike Collective’s Classic Bike Sale. With various hours on January 24th and 25th, over 50 bikes from the 50′s to 70′s will be available for purchase. You can even earn your way towards a bike with your impressive wrench skills. To check their selection and a few photos check here.

So maybe after hitting up the Market Street Media Foundry’s Open House, you can pedal over to the Classic Bike Sale. The sale location is at 1312 Locust and interested buyers can contact info@dsmbikecollective.org to purchase bikes. Hours are January 24 noon-5 p.m. and January 25 7:30-9:30 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
