nadas-quicktime-final2-posterWe are in the thick of the holiday season, and there is even more going on in DSM than usual.

If you’re having trouble cutting through all the clutter and getting to the good stuff, have no fear: Rock Iowa is here. These are the top five events coming up this week:

Fitch Open Studio night, on Friday, December 5, gives you a chance to stop in and talk to all the artists making their home in the Fitch Building. Ask questions, buy some art, or just check out the space for yourself. More info here.

Follow up your visit to the Fitch Open Studio night on Friday with The Nadas Silent Night at Hoyt Sherman Place. Past years’ concerts have brought in 10,000 toys for theUS Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Help the Nadas help kids. More information here.

Jingle Bell Bash is a fundraiser for Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa, and wins my personal award for best local commercial. It made this event look like fun! Thursday, Friday and Saturday you can catch dinner and a show at the Scottish Rite Temple, Sunday features a matinee. Get the details here.

On Saturday, catch the Holiday Craft Saturday event with new extended hours– from noon to seven at 4th Street Theater. You might remember our post from the last Craft Saturday. Get your holiday shopping started and feel good about yourself for shopping local (and supporting artisans)! Full information here.

On Wednesday and Thursday, catch the Crossroads Conference (and catch Rock Iowa there). CC covers film, theater, art, music, food, and design in a two day entertainment industry conference. Find a full list of seminars, artists and musicians at their website.
